ABOUT THE CHAMBER:
Serving on a Chamber Committee:

Your membership in the Greater Bowie Chamber of Commerce is greatly enhanced when you participate as a committee member. Your input into the Chamber's decision-making process will ensure that your business needs will be addressed.

Each committee is generally charged with the following:

  1. The development of Chamber policies for Board adoption and the implementation of those policies once adopted.
     
  2. The development of seminars, training courses and services etc., designed to make the Chamber more helpful to business and increase the value of membership.

Key Chamber Committees:

Economic Development: To actively and aggressively promote positive business development in the Bowie area. Address areas affecting development such as transportation and environmental issues.

Education: To improve the effectiveness of education through active business involvement and initiate increased awareness of the importance of quality education throughout the community.

Fund Raising: Creative opportunity to learn how to implement projects, and meet and work with fellow Chamber members.

Home-Based Business: This committee is dedicated to supporting and promoting the prosperity of home-based businesses in the Bowie area. This is achieved by identifying and satisfying common needs among their peers.

Legislative: To evaluate and formulate positions, subject to Board approval, on local legislative issues specifically relating to business growth and development. Establish heightened level of communication with elected officials.

Marketing and Public Relations: To increase the visibility of Chamber programs and services through the enhancement of existing publications and media programs, and to develop additional avenues to further promote the Chamber and Chamber members.

Membership: To encourage Chamber membership through enhanced promotion of member services. Recruit Chamber members through organized membership drives. Develop and propose effective retention programs and services.

Retail: With the Mission Statement, “Creating a Positive Awareness of Bowie Merchants” and the motto “Shop Bowie First”, this Committee is of interest and benefit to merchants and restauranteurs in the Greater Bowie area.

Women in Business: To determine ways to foster a better business environment for women business owners, managers and professionals.
